Having a child with epilepsy is difficult. It is painful as you helplessly watch your child suffer, and you couldn't do anything to save him from tears, and pains caused by seizures. My child’s story will help others find a cure from epilepsy.
Johnny was born after 10 years of seriously trying to conceive. He was born a normal child, healthy and weighs 7.5 pounds. He was born without any form of disability. He was a happy child and dear to everyone. He was loved by all his peers both in school and church. He was a bright child with high IQ, until the age of 16 when an illness triggered his seizures. He had an untold number of seizures. His seizures were “grand mal and complex partial seizures.” With these seizures he had numerous injuries due to falls which have resulted in; severe cuts which required stitches he had bruises all over her body, and a broken nose. He was in hospital more times than I could count. Hospital became my second home. I was suffering emotionally. I gave up my job to take care of him. The seizures became so frequent that his social life and school was badly affected. Most of his friends who never understood what he were going through distanced themselves; they were embarrassed whenever his seizure came. It was trying times for us, as most neighbors who were unenlightened, believed that epilepsy was contagious, avoided us.
Johnny seizures were so frequent that we were no longer surprise. We were prepared for it anytime. It could occur in school, kitchen, bathroom, wedding, picnic, etc. But I was very careful to watch him, and try to catch him whenever I could. Before his seizure started, he loved to swim, but due to frequent seizures, we prevented him from going near a pool. Medication became a companion; we religiously kept to his medications and I made sure that I will always have his diazepam (Valium) just in case his seizure last more than 10 minutes. I looked up on epilepsy and read about SUDEP, losing my child was not an option. I made sure he took all medications recommended by his doctors; as the seizures became more frequent, he was taking more than 18 different anticonvulsant medications in a day. I made sure to follow his ketogenic diet. He became depressed everyday and often talked about dying…. My boy became a shadow of himself. I felt Broken, Scared and Lost. I searched more and learnt that his Conventional Medications were having extreme side effects on his brain and had prompted the thoughts of suicide. All the drugs he was taking, when I checked it out on the internet had the same side effects from my findings. I needed to end these medications and find a natural alternative without further effects on my son’s health.
In desperation for some cure or at least a treatment without Conventional Medications, I searched further; visited epilepsy websites and blogs. I was really determined. Fortunately for me, I stumbled on a testimony of someone who had epilepsy for several years and was cured through Herbal medication. I visited the blog, read awesome stories of people whose condition were worse than my son. I contacted the doctor, got his herbal medication, and used it for my son. Within one month of use, the frequent seizures became occasional. Formally his seizures were countless in a day, but while using the herbal medication, I quickly observed it has reduced drastically… within 2 months of using the medication for my son, his seizures all stopped.
